Objective of the Scheme
The ADIP Scheme aims to provide modern, durable, and scientifically designed aids and assistive devices to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). The goal is to promote physical, social, and psychological rehabilitation, reduce the impact of disabilities, and enhance the educational and economic potential of beneficiaries.
Who Can Implement the Scheme?
The scheme is carried out through recognized implementing agencies approved by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. Eligible agencies include:

Societies registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

Registered Charitable Trusts.
-
Indian Red Cross Societies and other Autonomous Bodies under District Administration.
-
National/Apex Institutes, CRCs, RCs, DDRCs, National Trust, ALIMCO.
-
State and National Handicapped Development Corporations.
-
Local bodies such as Zilla Parishads, Municipalities, Development Councils, Panchayats.
-
Hospitals registered as independent entities, recommended by Govt. authorities.
-
Nehru Yuva Kendras.
-
Any other organizations approved by the Department.
Note: Grant-in-aid is not provided for commercial production or supply of aids/appliances. Preference is given to agencies with qualified professionals, technical expertise, and proper infrastructure for fabrication, fitting, and post-care.
Who Can Apply? (Eligibility of Beneficiaries)

Must be an Indian citizen of any age.

Must have a 40% disability certificate (benchmark disability).

Monthly income should not exceed ₹30,000 (for dependents, parents/guardians’ income is considered).

Should not have received similar assistance in the last 3 years (1 year for children below 12 years).
Benefits of the ADIP Scheme
The scheme covers both assistive devices and essential surgical corrections (prior to fitment), with financial support as per norms.
Financial Assistance for Surgery/Intervention:

₹1,500 – for Speech & Hearing Impaired

₹3,000 – for Visually Impaired
-
₹15,000 – for Orthopedically Impaired
Assistance for Aids/Appliances:

Full cost covered for appliances costing up to ₹15,000.

Up to ₹15,000 assistance for appliances costing between ₹15,001 – ₹30,000.

Income criteria:

Income up to ₹22,500/month → 100% financial support.

Income ₹22,501 – ₹30,000/month → 50% financial support.

Special Provisions:
-
Expensive items (above ₹30,001) – Govt. of India bears 50% cost (rest by State Govt./NGO/beneficiary).

Transport allowance of ₹250 for PwD and escort, regardless of visits.
-
₹100/day boarding & lodging (up to 15 days) for beneficiaries earning up to ₹22,500/month and their attendants.
Cochlear Implant Support:

For children with hearing impairment:

₹7.00 lakh per unit for children (1–5 years, pre-lingual hearing loss).

₹6.00 lakh per unit for children (5–18 years, acquired hearing loss).

Covers implant, surgery, mapping, therapy, travel, and pre-implant assessment.
